Yay! Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays! It gives me pure feastality ecstasy. Since Thanksgiving is only a few days away I am beginning to finalize my menu so I can begin to shop for groceries. However, missing in action from my menu is a recipe for ham. I had browsed through some ham options on a previous post and vetoed half for one key ingredient, brown sugar. My mother is diabetic and I want her to pig out.

So, I am piecing together a recipe using: the epiphany I had at the market, the clip above and the recipes below.

The epiphany I had involved brining the ham with apple cider. Here is a recipe I found by gamesngrub.blogspot.com his recipe consists of apple cider, honey, garlic, soda, bourbon, and pepper….

But for those of you that can use soda. *cough COUGH*. This recipe sounds delicious and it is super simple! Two ingredient ham recipe: Coke Ham.

Speaking of bubbly beverages, what about a Champagne Glazed ham? OoOooOOooOo. Ingredient: brown sugar, champagne, honey, ginger and dry mustard.

Hmmm… How does “Susy’s Not Yet Tried Ham” recipe sound? Ingredients used: apple cider, onions, apples, cloves, and butter.

Brine smoked, bone in, uncut ham in apple cider for 12 hours.

Place fattier side up on roasting pan, insert cloves.

For glaze: warm butter in a pan. Saute diced onions, apples with the butter. Add apple cider, reduce.

I’ve never baked a ham… Advice please?
