It’s a charmed lfe. Living the luxurious life of a lady that lunches.
In actuality I was a juror that needed lunch… Totally unlucky in jury duty, incredibly lucky during restaurant week, and Drago Centro is a walkable distance from the courthouse
Drago Centro is flawlessly classy. Moonlighting as a real housewife of the OC, I noticed tons of: power lunches, dry martinis, Hermes Birkins, and of course spring- winter couples about. The décor is beautiful and tasteful, perfect for a first date.
The venison carpaccio was superb and not gamey. The seasonings were plentiful but did not overwhelm the flavor of the meat, yet provided enough kick to enhance the flavor of the venison. Amazing.
The braised short ribs were solid. The meat was neither dry nor tough (ribs were bone out).
My favorite part of the meal was the panna cotta. The citrus and basil infused sauce cleansed my palate so I truly able to enjoy the rich creaminess of the panna cotta.
Service was immaculate, Lorelei was fabulous. I had plates placed before me, without my noticing. I was eyeballing the meat and cheese menu wondering where my food was and bam! Non obtrusive and definitely attentive service. I was in and out of Drago in about hour. No contempt of court here.
It’s a charmed life.

All pigs need to go to heaven, a haven known as Oinkster. Yes, this haven has cheap and delicious food. You can tell your date, “You can have whatever you like”, because you are worth it and because Oinkster is almost as cheap as KFC. Hmm, brings back memories like that one mystical night, in the KFC parking lot. I was able to order my combo large with two additional sides, because my man said, “You don’t have to dig in your pocket as long as I have pennies stacked in my wallet”.
Oinkster is a place where malts and milkshakes co exist, a place where burgers and salads get along, a place where frites are finger lickin freakin crispy, even when cold. Oinkster is a place where garlic aoili rules as the ultimate frite dipping sauce and the bar has beer on tap and in bottles. Did I mention cupcakes, sports center, and beer? Beer!
I know this isn’t Kosher but… This little piggy needed her pork pulled.
That little piggy wanted some pastrami.
How much is that cupcake in the window? The one with the sprinkles on top? This little piggy wanted to know.
Did I mention frites with garlic aoili? Yodele Yodele he ho. From left to right: regular ketchup, house BBQ & ketchup, garlic aoili, mustard, and BBQ (they have quite a few BBQ choices). I, however found the BBQ too vinegary for my frite dipping pleasure but perfect to moisten my pulled pork.
What is the difference between a malt and a milkshake? Milkshakes bring all the boys to the yard. So gather all the boys, girls and pigs and head over to Oinkster, that amazing retro diner style restaurant in the heart of Eagle Rock.
Oinkster offers a few lighter options but go for the hamburger heart attack. Haven’t you heard? Pigs can now fly to heaven.
